4-star offensive lineman and Georgia signee D’Ante Demery was arrested late Saturday night in Athens after reportedly making physical contact with his girlfriend, who is also the mother of his newly born child. Demery was arrested on misdemeanor charges of simple battery and criminal trespass. According to reports, Demery choked, smothered and pulled the woman’s hair. Police officers were dispatched to a Waffle House in downtown Athens in response to reports. Demery later admitted to making contact with the women and was released from jail on a bond.
It didn’t take long for coach Kirby Smart and the Georgia athletic program to make a decision the future of Demery, as they released him from his National Letter of Intent earlier this morning. Demery was ranked as 115 best prospect in the nation, and the second best offensive lineman in the state of Georgia.
