Over the past few weeks, nobody has seen their recruitment take off like Dacula (GA) defensive back Jalen Perry. The 2019 prospect has picked up offers from Auburn, South Carolina, Iowa State, and Georgia recently. He and was in Athens last weekend to attend Georgia’s G-Day scrimmage.
“I really enjoyed the visit.” Perry said. “First we ate and got to spend time in the indoor practice field which was fun. Then we watched the “Dawg Walk” and that was really cool. Finally we got to go on the field and watch warm-ups which was the most fun being able to witness the atmosphere in Sanford Stadium.”
Perry already has a family connection to Georgia, as his cousin is former Bulldog receiver Tavarres King. Perry grew up watching the Bulldogs and was able to speak with some of the staff on his visit.
“I spoke with defensive coordinator Mel Tucker on my visit and I spoke with head coach Kirby Smart earlier in the week when I watched them practice.” Perry said. “I like that both coaches are great defensive minds that get their players to compete anytime they step on the field. I also like the way coach Tucker develops his defensive backs.
Perry admitted that father and grandfather went on the visit with him, and while they weren’t able to walk around campus, they did get a chance to see the facilities.
“The best facilities to me were the weight room and the indoor practice field.” Perry said.
The 6-foot-1 175-pound cornerback was very excited about his offer from Georgia, but the Bulldogs won’t be the last team to offer the talented sophomore. Look for more teams to start pulling the trigger soon. In a loaded class of defensive backs, Perry has a chance to be one of the best.
