After a successful G-day scrimmage, The Georgia Bulldogs made a big impression on out of state target Jaevon Becton. The three-star defensive end out of Ocean Lakes (VA) has always been high on the Bulldogs, but his latest visit put them in the lead for the 6-foot-4 240-pound defender.
“My UGA visit was really great in my eyes. Georgia is at the top of my recruiting list.” Becton said. “I got to stay overnight to see how the players act off the field and it was great just like how I expected to be.”
The Bulldogs have had a rough tough time recruiting defensive ends in this class, but Becton is one they are in a great position for. Tennessee, Virginia Tech, NC State, among others have offered.
One of the many 2019 prospects in town last weekend was Grayson running back Ronald Thompkins. The standout sophomore has seen his recruitment explode the past two months, receiving offers from Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, among others.
“My visit was nice.” Thompkins said. “I got a chance to bring my dad and brother down. I talked with running backs coach Dell McGee, and I can tell we are getting closer and I got a chance to see the offense. Coach McGee is always honest and he’s a nice coach. My dad got a chance to talk to him and he liked coach McGee too.”
Thompkins is becoming one of the top 2019 backs in the south, and is due for a breakout junior season this fall. Alabama is in a great spot for Thompkins at the moment, but it’s clear he is a major Georgia target in the 2019 class.
