UGA’s commitment list got longer on Friday after two prospects picked the Bulldogs on the second day of Kirby Smart’s summer camp.
4-star North Gwinnett OL Warren Ericson and three-star Miami Northwestern (FL) DB Rachad Wildgoose, Jr committed to the Bulldogs Friday night. The Bulldogs now have five prospects committed to them for the class of 2018, but only Ericson is considered a Scout 300 player.
Another massive offensive lineman, Ericson is considered the No. 12 overall offensive guard in the country by Scout. He’s 6-4, 317 pounds and picked the Bulldogs over Auburn, Michigan and Florida.
“Ericson is nasty. He plays with the mentality to take defensive linemen to the ground and to punish the man in front of him,” reads the Scout evaluation on the 2018 lineman. “He is very strong and a great driver blocker. He locks on to his man and drives him off the ball, and many times straight to the ground.”
Wildgoose had been committed to Rutgers before backing away from that pledge earlier this year and watching offers roll in. The defensive back picked the Bulldogs over the schools he was recently offered by: Florida, Ole Miss, Maryland, Wisconsin and NC State.
“I would like to thank all the schools that have offered me,” Wildgoose tweeted. “I would like to officially announce that I am committed to the University of Georgia.”
Wildgoose will likely play safety at UGA. He’s listed at 5-11, 190 pounds. The scouting report on him is that he plays rougher than his stature my let on.
“There are times he lines up at cornerback and jams the receiver, and his physical style is on display there and in other spots,’ the report reads. “He is quick with his hands, and he does a good job of re-routing the receiver. Wildgoose needs to get stronger, and with maturity and more lower body strength, his acceleration and top-end speed will increase.”
