TN Lineman has offers, names Top Teams

K.T. Mainord is an agile defensive end that could play defensive tackle on the next level. He has some top offers and a list of favorites.

K.T. Mainord is a player that has not received a lot of interest among the recruitniks, but college recruiters know exactly where to find him. The 6-4 and 265 pound defensive end/tight end has had a steady flow of letters and coaches come to his school in Coalmont, TN.

"He plays defensive end and tight end for us," said Grundy County Head Coach Ken Colquitt. "He is a legit 4.7 forty guy. He has tremendous closing speed. He's better in pursuit right now than he is if they are coming right at him. In fact, he's the best guy I've ever had in pursuit. One team ran a reverse on us this year, and Mainord made a bad technique play, but he turned around and chased the guy down."

Who are some of the schools that have made their way to come see Mainord?

"Tennessee, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Auburn, Tennessee, Tech, and MTSU have all been here. Alabama sends stuff every day, and we hear a lot from Nebraska and Southern Miss. Vanderbilt and South Carolina are two teams that I know for sure that have offered him."

Who are some of the schools that Mainord himself is interested in?

"I really was waiting on Tennessee," said Mainord. "but they haven't offered so I'm focusing on some other schools. I really like Georgia, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Alabama. I plan on taking unofficials to Tennessee, South Carolin, and Vanderbilt, and I will start to plan my official visits too."

Mainord has the size to play defensive tackle on the next level, but with Coach Colquitt's scouting report, it sounds as if Mainord will be better suited to remain outside and come off the edge.
