Perspective from the sideline; Georgia – Alabama After Billy Bennett's first field goal, the Georgia's sideline was visibly relieved that he knocked the kick in. But after Bennett's 52-yard field goal the team was no longer relieved, they were confident in Bennett's leg. He received several high fives and ‘atta-boys.
Jon Fabris came up to David Pollack after the game and congratulated him on a great game played. This is rare because Fabris is so quiet after games and usually goes straight to the locker room.
Eric McLendon was on the sideline yesterday with a Tennessee Titians jersey on.
When Alabama quarterback Brodie Croyle left the game after re-injuring his shoulder, Georgia fans in the end zone above the visitor locker room gave him a standing ovation. Croyle, who had been on the ground injured for a long period of time, did not start the game and managed only two plays.
However, CBS' Jill Arrington did not get the same treatment from Alabama's staff. The staff ran past Arrington virtually ignoring her attempt to inquire about Croyle's status.
Before being celebrated at halftime for their service to our country in Iraq, Capt. Chris Carter and Lt. Col. Philip (Flip) deCamp were greeted by a jogging Mark Richt who was heading to the locker room.
"I want to see that flag," said Richt pointing at the two servicemen.
Brian VanGorder was held back by Jon Fabris after a personal foul injury in the fourth quarter. It was different to see Fabris, who is known for his intensity, holding another coach back when they were voicing their opinion to the officials.
Both of Ken Veal's ankles were heavily bandaged. One foot was taped quite a bit while the other was taped and in an air cast as well.
It was ironic to see Quentin Moses sitting by Will Thompson Saturday. Moses suffered a right elbow injury had the number 58 written on his wrist band in order to honor Thompson.
