Despite a career-long 55-yard field goal by Billy Bennett, Georgia settled for a 10-10 halftime tie as it was surprised by the Razorbacks' quick inside screens. David Greene was only 3 for 9 passing in the quarter for Georgia.

Key stat: Led by 49 yards on four receptions by Richard Smith, Arkansas took a 127-82 lead in total yards.

Key play: On third and 7 from the Georgia 31, David Greene passed to Damien Gary for a gain of 18 yards. Arkansas helped the Bulldogs with four penalties, including three offsides calls, in the drive.

A personal foul penalty against Georgia pushed the Razorbacks to the Georgia 6, and Holmes scored on first down from there.

After passing for only 30 yards in the first quarter, Greene gained momentum, completing 9 of 13 passes for 168 yards in the second quarter. His total included a 7-yard touchdown pass to Terrence Edwards. The teams traded interceptions late in the half.

Arkansas pulled even on a 74-yard punt return by Marvin Jackson, but Georgia answered with a strong nine-play touchdown drive. Then penalties took over, marring most of the rest of the period and earning boos from the sellout crowd.

Key stat: Bennett had three field-goal attempts on one possession. A 41-yarder was no good, but Arkansas was penalized for roughing on the play, helping to set up a 27-yarder that was good, but negated by a movement penalty against Georgia's offensive line. Finally, Bennett tried again from 32 yards, but that kick hit the right upright and fell back to the end zone.

Arkansas touchdown: Marvin Jackson 74 punt return (O'Donohoe kick), 9:34. Key play: Arkansas almost blocked Jonathan Kilgo's punt, and Kilgo may have rushed the punt in an attempt to beat the rush. Jackson fielded the punt near the middle of the field and found a crease on the left side.

Georgia 27, Arkansas 20

Georgia touchdown: Musa Smith 2 run (Bennett kick), 7:30. Drive: 9 plays, 65 yards, 2:05 drive. Key play: On a third and 6 play from the 14, Arkansas was called for pass interference when trying to defend Michael Johnson near the goal line.


Georgia dominated the time of possession in the quarter, though it managed only one touchdown. It ate the clock with a late drive before finally turning over possession at the Arkansas 20 with only 1:09 left to play. Arkansas' field goal was its only offensive points of the half.

Key stat: Musa Smith finished with exactly 100 yards rushing — his second 100-yard game of the season.
