Lady Dawg out for year

ATHENS -- Georgia senior women's basketball player Tina Taylor tore the ACL in her left knee earlier this week and will miss the entire season.

Taylor is facing a fourth knee surgery. The first three were performed on her right knee.

"Seeing Tina endure yet another injury is painful for all of us," Lady Bulldogs coach Andy Landers said. "Any injury that damages a body part is painful from a physical standpoint, but this one could be even more painful from a mental standpoint. Everyone associated with our team recognized that Tina has developed into a bona-fide player."

Taylor was one of five Lady Bulldogs who played in all 31 games last year, when she had 70 assists. She already has a bachelor's degree in accounting and is on track to earn a finance degree in the spring of next year.

"Playing for UGA has been a blessing," Taylor said, "and I feel this setback is something I will overcome with the loving support of my coaches and teammates. I would like to say thank you to them for everything they've already done for me."

Taylor averaged 2.2 points and 1.9 rebounds last year.
