CB/WR prospect Ramarcus Brown is one of the true characters in the class of 2004. With a personality to rival any of the top comedians in the country. He is one of the best interviews around. As you can see below, President Bush isn't the only one who's been perplexed with the French.
"Man, I tell you what, I've been struggling with this French
class," laughed Brown. "I
was in honors French 1 last year, and it was pretty tough, but this dadgum French
2 ain't no joke! That's all I'm even worried about now. As soon as I hang up
this phone, I'm headed straight back to the book. How do those people talk like
Fortunately for Ramarcus he may have a lot of time to perfect his foreign
language skills, but not for the reason that he would have liked.
"I went down with an injury to my ankle. I tore some ligaments in there.
The doctor said I will be out 3-6 weeks, but I've been resting it as much as I
can. Propping it up and all that stuff. Hopefully I can play the first round of
the playoffs, but I'm not sure yet."
Although European communication might not be his thing, Brown certainly
compensates for it in his other classes.
"I have a 3.3 GPA and a 980 SAT. I want to take that SAT again because I
know I can make a 1000. I know I can."
How have things been going on the recruiting front?
"All the schools are really stepping it up. I like Florida, Georgia,
Oklahoma, and Auburn the best right now. I like them all for basically the same
reasons. Those are the schools I grew up liking."
Brown takes his comedy tour on the road, beginning this weekend.
"I'm headed to Oklahoma this Friday, and I've scheduled my visit with
Georgia on January 9th. I may visit the other schools, but I'm not sure
With a player the caliber of Tristan Davis on his team, has Ramarcus ever
considered joining him at the next level?
"We talked about it, and we really want to stay together. I know that
both of us really like Florida. I think Tristan is looking at Auburn too. In the
end though, I don't really know. It would be hard to go somewhere without him,
but get back to me on that later, because I'm not sure yet."
Brown is currently pointing towards a Christmas time decision, which would
come before he visits most of the schools on his list. Will that play a factor?
"I've already been to Florida for a camp. I went to Georgia for a game, and I
went to Auburn probably 3 times. I think I know enough about them already, even
without taking a visit."
I certainly wish Ramarcus a speedy recovery, and best of luck in perfecting
that "dadgum French." Tri-Cities is 5-4-1 on the year, and enter the
playoffs in a few weeks.
