Ole Miss Commitment Chris Herring

Linebacker Chris Herring committed to the Ole Miss Rebels on Wednesday, but Georgia is still in the mix.

Chris Herring is arguably the #1 prospect in a talent laden state of Mississippi this year. The 6'2 and 260 pound (4.5 forty) linebacker gave a verbal commitment to Coach Cutcliffe and the Ole Miss Rebels on Wednesday evening. "I committed to Ole Miss last night," said Herring. "It came down to me just wanting to stay close to home. They have a powerful offense, and their defense is starting to come around. Hopefully I can step right in. They're talking to me about playing inside linebacker."

While Herring has committed to Ole Miss, he said he'd still like to take a trip to Georgia in January. "I'm still going to try and visit UGA. I really liked the coaches from Ole Miss and Georgia. They were always straight up with me, and I liked that."

While Georgia may still get a visit, one might think it would be an uphill battle to obtain the services of the monster linebacker from South Panola High School. Three of Herring's cousins are currently on the Ole Miss roster: Eddie Strong, Toward Sanford, and Kevin Thomas. All three are from South Panola, and all three are Ole Miss Rebels. Chris Herring looks to make it four in February.
