Making a name for himself

Inquorous Johnson is a player that came in off the radar screen this year because he missed all of last season with a broken collar bone. After a stellar senior season, he is smack dab in the middle of several top schools' radar screen, and he has earned himself several offers.

Crim Head Coach Darren Myles speaks fondly of his star player, and Inquorous Johnson has earned that high praise with a good work ethic and even better results on the field.

"He did a little bit of everything for us this year," said Myles. "His numbers on the season were. 30 catches for 443 yards and six touchdowns, 505 yards rushing and four touchdowns, one punt and one kickoff return for a touchdown, 35 solo tackles, 10 pass break ups and four interceptions. He's also the leading scorer on the basketball team at 26.5 points per game. He's a tremendous athlete."

Has his star senior's big season attracted college recruiters this year?

"Yes, he's gotten several offers so far. UT-Chattanooga and Ohio have offered him. Georgia has given him a conditional offer, meaning once he qualifies he's got an offer, and he's not far off right now. Tennessee was here last week too, and the coach that recruits this area called their wide receiver coach, Pat Washington, and said 'You need to get over here right now' when he saw the film on it. Pat was in the area too, so he came right over."

What position is the 5-11 and 170 pound Johnson being recruited for?

"Everyone is recruiting him at wide receiver, but I know that Coach Martinez at Georgia really likes him at cover corner too. He can play either."

What does Johnson himself think about the recruiting process?

"Georgia is coming by the house on Wednesday or Thursday," said Johnson. "I'm going to finalize my visit with them when they come by. I am also going to visit UTC and Ohio in January. Ohio was by the house on Sunday, and UTC is coming by later this week too."

It's never too late for a player to make a name for himself, and that's exactly what Johnson did this season. He has also earned himself a trip to the North/South All-Star game that is being played in Columbus, GA this season.

We will have video clips of Johnson posted tomorrow so you can see what has gotten coaches so excited about this dynamic athlete.
