Update 2002 - Rhett Lashlee (QB)

Record setting quarterback Rhett Lashlee of Springdale, AR is a diamond in the rough hidden at a smaller classification school.

If quarterback Rhett Lashlee was at a bigger school, he may have the 35 to 40 scholarship offers that you see of the nation's top prospects. However, while guiding AA powerhouse Shiloh Christian to a 5-2 record, he has continued to rack up astounding numbers while doing it in relative obscurity.

Earlier this season, Lashlee quietly became Arkansas' leading career passer in both career yardage and touchdowns. His 2+ year numbers speak for themselves. In 2 and a half seasons, Lashlee has completed 690 passes on 1184 attempts for 138 touchdowns and only 36 interceptions. This season Lashlee is 154/253 for 2422 yards and 26 touchdowns. The numbers are even more amazing when you consider how little he plays in the second half of games such as last week's 51-7 win over division rival Greenland.

Lashlee has all of the tools to be successful at the next level. At 6'3 and 200 pounds (4.6 forty), Lashlee has the physical ability to be a star at the next level. Lashlee currently carries a 4.0 GPA and scored a 20 on his first attempt on the ACT. When asked about his favorite colleges, Lashlee responded, "I really liked UGA and Oklahoma. I like Arkansas as well, but I'm not sure if they're offense fits me. That may be why they're not recruiting me that hard."

Lashlee said that Tulsa is the only school that has offered him formally, but he has been hearing the most from Duke, Northwestern, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. While Lashlee doesn't have the offers of some of the bluest of blue chips in America, he certainly has the credentials. One has to think that the offers will come.
