Dawgs have final bowl practice

ORLANDO – Georgia concluded its scheduled workouts for the Capital One Bowl today. The Bulldogs will eat and meet tomorrow and have a curfew of 11 PM.

"It was a typical Thursday practice for us," said Mark Richt of the adjusted practice schedule for the New Year's game which is played on a Thursday this year.

"It was a good workout. The scout team gave a good workout and there were very few mental mistakes. We did not go at the tempo that they will see (during the game) but it was a good practice today," he added.

The final workout of the 2003 season had a important visitor. Tampa Bay quarterback Brad Johnson threw a few balls with Georgia's quarterbacks. The group played a target hitting game which Johnson combined to win with D. J. Shockley, who was not dressed out for practice.

"I wish that he had some eligibility left but I guess that when I had him I was not smart enough to use him," said Richt of Johnson.

Richt will have to settle for David Greene and the rest of the Bulldogs who he says have practiced well.

"They have done a good job of working hard and behaving and I have been pleased to this point," said Richt.
