Florida Athlete Pledges to the Dawgs

Kelin Johnson was just turned onto the Georgia program 2 weeks ago, but that was long enough for the Jacksonville standout to choose the Dawgs.

"I went to Athens this weekend and it went real nice. I decided to go ahead and commit. I'm going to be a Georgia Bulldog," Kelin Johnson said.

Who did Kelin choose Georgia over?

"I was looking at teams like Penn State, Iowa, South Florida, Troy State, and Southern Miss. I had been on visits to Troy State and Southern Miss already."

What stuck out about the Dawgs?

"I just wanted to make sure I was comfortable. The coaches are all really Christian coaches and I like that. The competition in the SEC is real tough. Also, the depth chart at Georgia was a big reason. The thing that sealed it was the living conditions though. The new dorms that are opening in August made my decision."

What does Johnson think about Georgia's defense?

"I like the scheme. They are real physical. Thomas Davis was the #1 tackler last year, and Sean Jones was #2, so I know they use their safeties a lot."

How did he like Sanford Stadium?

"The stadium is lovely. Playing in front of 92,000 on a weekly basis is more than enough for a college team."

How did Kelin enjoy Coach Richt's house?

"It was unbelievable. We went downstairs to the game room and I was just chilling. I played the piano a little bit upstairs. My father is a musician at the church and I picked it up from him. I learn by ear, so I just play what sounds good."

Kelin fills a need position for the Dawgs at Sean Jones vacated Rover slot. Coach Rucker recruited Johnson for Georgia.
