Bulldog starter Paul Labrano went 5 strong innings for his 2nd win of the year, before he was lifted for Sean Ruthven at the start of the 6th inning. Southpaw reliever Will Startup came on in the 7th and pitched a scoreless 2 and 2/3 innings to pick up his 2nd save of the young season.
The majority of Georgia's offense on the afternoon came by way of the long ball. Sophomore Kyle Keen homered twice on Saturday, including one of the inside the park variety. Freshman Josh Morris provided the other half of the scoring punch as he homered in his 4th straight game and reached base a total of 4 times on the afternoon.
Despite the early big fly's by the Dawgs, UGA only carried a 4-3 lead to the eighth inning. That's when Bulldog batters got 2 hits, a walk, and an error to score two important insurance runs and put the game away.
The Diamond Dawgs are now 6-0 on the year, which is their best start since 2000. The 2 game series with Georgia Southern concludes tomorrow with the first pitch scheduled for 1:30pm at J.I. Clements stadium.
Diamond Dawgs stay perfect, take out GSU 6-3
