Marietta QB Eyes the SEC

Brandon Jones of Marietta is one of the top QB's in the Peach State for the class of 2005. He has an early top 5 and a pretty good idea of the league he'd like to play in at the next level.

"I like Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. All of them have contacted me," Brandon Jones said.

Which conference would he prefer to compete in when his college career starts?

"I want to play in the SEC. The level of ball they play is real high, and they always have good teams. They produce a lot of good quarterbacks, and if you can survive the SEC, you can play anywhere."

What is Brandon looking for most in a school?

"The type of offense they run. I'm not much of a runner, so I'd like an offense with a lot of 5 and 7 foot straight drops."

Did Jones have a favorite team growing up?

"I liked Florida State growing up. Just the tradition they have, and I love Bobby Bowden."

What does Brandon feel he does best on the football field?

"Read the defense. That's the edge I have, and you have to have that in order to distribute the ball well."

What will he be working on the most during his senior year?

"I want to improve my mechanics. I can get lazy and float the ball sometimes. I'd also like to do the little things to catch the eyes of the college coaches."

Brandon's Marietta team will attend the Auburn camp this summer. He is an excellent student with a 3.4 GPA.
