AUBURN 24 GEORGIA 17
FIRST QUARTER
SUMMARY
Georgia opened strong with a trick play — a screen pass to Terrence Edwards, who threw back to David Greene for a gain of 8 yards — before taking the early lead on a bomb from Greene to Fred Gibson. Auburn's Damon Duval missed a 47-yard field goal to the right, but the Tigers took advantage of a fumble by Kenny Bailey to drive 59 yards — most coming on seven runs by Carnell Williams (eight, including a play called back by a penalty) — for a game-tying touchdown.

Key stat: Georgia had only seven sacks for the season entering the game and recorded two on Auburn's first possession — one each by David Pollack and Charles Grant. Each caused a fumble that Auburn recovered.
SCORING
Georgia 7, Auburn 0
Georgia touchdown: Gibson 67 pass from Greene (Billy Bennett kick), 14:02. Drive: 3 plays, 80 yards, :58. Key play: On first down from the 33, Greene dropped back out of the shotgun formation and had good protection as he waited for Gibson to use his speed to pull away from Auburn cornerback Carlos Rogers and catch a deep pass over the middle for the touchdown.
Georgia 7, Auburn 7
Auburn touchdown: Williams 1 run (Duval kick), :06. Drive: 9 plays, 59 yards, 3:52. Key play: On third and 7 from the 39, Daniel Cobb passed to Jeris McIntyre for a gain of 27, as McIntyre escaped a tackle attempt by cornerback Bruce Thornton.
SECOND QUARTER
SUMMARY
Georgia did not take advantage of two excellent scoring opportunities. After a long punt return gave Georgia the ball at the Auburn 31, a 44-yard field goal by Bennett was blocked. After Auburn's Deandre Green fumbled at the Auburn 21 when hit by Tim Wansley, Georgia gave the ball back when a trick play failed — a halfback pass by Kenny Bailey was intercepted by Karlos Dansby. Georgia settled for a 14-7 lead on its best trick play of the year.

Key stat: Auburn was successful on two fourth-down plays on one series, making it three-for-three in the game.
SCORING
Georgia 14, Auburn 7
Georgia touchdown: Edwards 57 pass from Greene (Bennett kick), 8:23. Drive: 4 plays, 64 yards, 1:38. Key play: On fourth and 3 from its 43, Georgia pulled off a trick play that fooled everybody. Greene faked a handoff to Musa Smith and then calmly held the ball against his left hip, and walked a step or two before turning and throwing downfield to Edwards, who was wide open and beat Roderick Hood in the race for the end zone.
THIRD QUARTER
SUMMARY
Auburn took the lead with a long touchdown drive and a field goal as Georgia's offense continued to be stopped by turnovers and penalties. Bennett had a second field goal blocked as Georgia could not take advantage of an interception by Wansley.

Key stat: Georgia was 0 for 6 on third-down conversions before Greene found Edwards for 12 yards on a third-and-8 play from the Georgia 22.
Auburn 14, Georgia 14
Auburn touchdown: Robert Johnson 2 pass from Cobb (Duval kick), 9:31. Drive: 12 plays, 80 yards, 5:29. Key play: On the touchdown play, Cobb took the snap and ran to his right before stopping and throwing back to his left to Johnson, who was wide open. Cobb was 6 for 7 passing on the drive.
Auburn 17, Georgia 14
Auburn field goal: Duval 33 kick, :32. Drive: 10 plays, 38 yards, 4:38. Key play: A 53-yard field goal attempt by Duval was no good, but Wansley was called for running into the kicker, giving the Tigers a first down at the Georgia 31.
FOURTH QUARTER
SUMMARY
Georgia tied the game on a Bennett field goal but Auburn immediately answered with what proved to be the decisive touchdown drive. The highlight was a 60-yard gain on a screen pass to Williams. Georgia had two more chances. It was stopped on the Auburn 9 with 2:21 left to play on an incomplete fourth-down pass to Gibson and it had one more last-minute drive stopped at the Auburn 1 as the game ended.

Key stat: Williams had 11 carries for 48 yards in the fourth quarter to finish with a school-record 41 carries for 167 yards. As a team, Georgia rushed for only 73 yards.
