Cartersville (Ga.) Athlete Updates Favorites

Anthony Barnes is one of the more versatile prospects in the Peach State for the Class of 2005. Last year at Cartersville, Barnes played quarterback, safety, and wide receiver for the Purple Hurricanes.

At the next level, he may project best at wide receiver although his frame could even support the pounds necessary to become a LB. It's this versatility and willingness to play where he's needed, that could make him that much more attractive to college recruiters. Who is Anthony interested in early on?

"I like Georgia, North Carolina, Florida State, West Virginia, and Miami. Miami is my leader. I like their style of play and Willis McGahee was my favorite player," Anthony Barnes said.

What makes the other schools on Barnes list stand out to him?

Georgia: "Everybody around here really likes Georgia."
North Carolina: "I really like the basketball team."
Florida State: "The stadium is loud, and they get crunk."
West Virginia: "I like their style of offense. I'd love to run the option."

What are the most important recruiting factors for Anthony?

"I need a good environment. I want a place with a good tradition."

What are his schools for his senior year?

"We want to be State Champions. That's our goal. I'd like to have close to 1,000yds receiving this year. I had about 600yds last year."

With one of the strongest senior classes in GA coming back off of a team that went 10-2 in 2003, CHS should be right back in the State title chase once again.
