South's Top Lineman Picking up Offers

Charles Jackson is shaping up to be the top offensive lineman in the south for the class of 2005, and there is a whole host of schools who would love to sign him. This weekend he tripped to one of those suitors for an unofficial visit.

"I went to Georgia and it was real good," Charles Jackson said.

What was the best part of the trip?

"I got to talk with Coach Richt. I love how he goes about things, and is all about winning championships."

The Dawgs remain in front in the race for Charles.

"My top 5 is Georgia, Duke, Maryland, Kentucky, and Georgia Tech. Right now, Georgia is still leading the pack. I don't know if I'll commit early, but they are looking real good."

Jackson will spend next weekend in Orlando for an AAU basketball tournament with his team, the Georgia Hawks. He's also planning to occupy his time in college with playing a little bit of roundball as well.

"I'm going to play both sports the first year or two and see how it goes."

The big man from Tri-County is an excellent student with a 90.44/100 GPA and a qualified SAT score. Has he picked a major yet?

"I haven't really decided, but I think about things like graphic arts and stuff. I think I'm pretty artistic."

Georgia, Auburn, Duke, Maryland, Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Vanderbilt have all offered Charles so far, and I expect that list to keep growing.
