A quarterback emerging from the state of Georgia is Joel Statham. Statham, 6-3 and 200 pounds, stars for Chatsworth (Ga.) Murray County High School. So far this season, Murray County is 7-2 and he has accounted for 695 passing yards, 675 rushing yards and 17 total touchdowns. "I think I am a pretty good dual threat," said Statham. "I run and pass pretty well." According to Statham, he has scholarship offers from Maryland, Middle Tennessee State, Wake Forest, Tennessee Tech and UAB. Georgia, Auburn and Clemson are also recruiting him very hard. "My childhood dream was to play for Georgia. I am not too sure about them. I think UGA may offer soon but they have a few good, young quarterbacks. Right now, Maryland (11-10) is my leader. I visited last weekend. They play the same offense as I do and I think there is a great opportunity to play there. Plus, they treat me like somebody and have shown me a lot of love and respect." Statham has also unofficially visited Auburn (vs. Florida), Clemson (vs. FSU) and Georgia (vs. Kentucky). This weekend, he will travel to Middle Tennessee State (vs. Connecticut). Statham carries a 3.1 grade point average and 900 SAT.
