Top Georgia Backer Has 2 Offers

It's been a few years since Twiggs County High School last produced a big time D1 football prospect. That player was Tony Hollings. Many other cobra players have graced the snake pit since he took his talents to the flats of Georgia Tech, but none of them have stalked it quite like standout LB Antonio Clay.

Antonio Clay was one of the more acclaimed athletes in attendance at the TheInsiders/MSL Combine in Atlanta last weekend, and he did absolutely nothing to disappoint the people in attendance. I caught up with the stout LB on Monday night and he gave me his opinion of what he liked about the camp.

"I was impressed with the commitment the coaches had to staying on the field despite being in all that nasty weather. We all got out there and pushed through it together," Clay said.

What was Clay's favorite part?

"I liked the one on one's. I wanted to go against Ramon McElrathbey, because he was talking a little bit and stuff like that, but I didn't get the chance. I watched his footwork during drills, and he's real quick, but I know I could have made him turn inside."

Antonio has already picked up big time offers from Clemson and Florida, and more will be on their way shortly. Who made his early top 5?

"I like Miami, Oklahoma, Florida, Clemson and Georgia. I don't have any leaders right now."

What does he like about each of his favorites?

Miami: "I like their program. It's almost like a 3 year school how everyone leaves for the NFL.

Oklahoma: "They play good ball. I would love to be a part of that defense."

Florida: "It impressed me how Coach Zook came to my school personally and offered me a scholarship that way. I'm not going to forget that.?"

Clemson: "I like the coaching staff because they're all really nice. I also think I can get a lot of playing time there the fastest"

Georgia: "You can't say anything bad about Georgia. I went down there for a game and it was so hype that it felt like I was in the game."

What is Antonio looking for most of all in a school?

"I just want a good school all around. I don't want to go to a school in the middle of nowhere either. I can't go anywhere boring."

The Middle GA star has set some lofty goals for himself as well.

"I want to win the state and get over 100 tackles over 10 sacks.
