Washington comments on his commitment

Marcus Washington became Georgia's 1st public commitment on Thursday afternoon, and we caught up with the Burke County standout to tell us why he chose Georgia.

"I committed to Georgia this afternoon when I got from practice. I called Coach Fabris and he told that he was really happy and that I made a good decision."

Washington has been a Georgia fan as long as he can remember.

"Growing up as a child I was always a UGA man. I love the Red and Black."

How does Marcus feel to be the first public commitment for the Dawgs in the class of '05?

"I wasn't aware that I was the first commitment at all. That's pretty exciting. I'm going to do my best not to let them down."

The east GA native was impressed with he saw at Junior Day in Athens.

"I loved the intensity of the playing style. They play so hard."

Washington will play LB for the Dawgs. He already has a 920 SAT and should have no problems qualifying academically.
