Update 2002 – Stephon Heyer

Heyer, a big left tackle from Brookwood High School, has many teams pursuing him, including the Georgia Bulldogs.

Stephon Heyer is looking for a place where he and him team can challenge for a national title. At this point in the recruiting process he has not found that place.

"I am encouraged with Maryland, but I have no real leader at this time."

Heyer told Jamie Newberg earlier in the season that Michigan, one of many teams recruiting him, was his leader. But now Heyer is considering many schools, including the Georgia Bulldogs.

When asked about the type of offense that Georgia uses and if would effect his decision on playing in Athens or not Heyer said, "I'm pretty flexible with what I can do. I think that they (Georgia) have a good coaching staff and that in the future they might contend for national titles."

Michigan, Georgia, Maryland, Arkansas, and Virginia are all in the race to land Heyer. He is set to visit Athens on December 7th, a change from his originally scheduled date in January.

Georgaia, Michigan, and Virginia are also recruiting Heyer's Brookwood teammate Michael Turner; does that mean that the pair would go to the same college?

"We would probably consider it, but I am not really sure."

Georgia Tight End Coach David Johnson is recruiting both Turner and Heyer.
