New Offer for Georgia TE After Camp

Stephen Gowland is part of a deep class of tight ends in the south this year. He has been busy at camps across the south, including one ongoing this weekend.

"So far I've been to Wake Forest's one day elite prospect camp," said Stephen Gowland. "I met with my recruiting coach, Coach Mullen, and he introduced me to the tight ends coach, Coach Elrod and we just kind of joked around for a few minutes. During one of the footwork drills with drive blocking I got to demonstrate for the whole group about moving your feet. We do the exact same drills all the time at Parkview so I had a step up on the competition there. During one on ones, I came ready to play. Out of the 8 or 9 routes I ran only one was incomplete and that was a drag that I ran into a crowd of people on the other side. I picked up my third offer that day at Wake camp."

From Wake Forest, Gowland traveled to Auburn for their two day camp.

"Next weekend was Auburn. The competition there was great. I loved the atmosphere and just getting out there and playing with the best of the best from the region. I tested well (31 inch vert 4.75 40 and 4.66 shuttle) and ran one on ones even better. The group of tight ends we had at Auburn was really great. All the guys showed up ready to play. I ran crisp routes thanks to some of the techniques Coach (Ensminger) taught us. "It was easy getting open with the right technique, and I did get open and caught the ball really well. I think I played awesome at Auburn and the coached seemed to take note. I got a chance to talk to Coach Tuberville, and he said the tight end coach really liked me. So we'll see where that leads.

Gowland is currently attending the four day Fellowship Sports Camp held at Stephenson High School. He helped himself there as well on a professional timer. Gowland turned in a 4.68 and a 4.59 forty for Chip Smith's Competitive Edge Sports team who was working the camp. After the Fellowship Camp, it will be back on the road.

"July 10th I'll be at Georgia, and the 11th and 12th I'll be at Florida."

It's a deep year for tight ends in the south this year, and Stephen Gowland is one of the best.
