Notes: Richt said that Derrick White was at Will linebacker and that Verdun-Wheeler was at Sam. Jean-Gilles said that he was probably going to be the starting tight guard in front on Swain and that Shackleford would get lots of reps at the tackles. All of the offensive linemen that were at the bottom of the depth charts were either injured (Brock) or did not participate last season (McKinzey, Chandler, and Lee). Richt said that Ware could be cross trained as a fullback for the Georgia Southern game but that Milton "is a tailback not a fullback".

Jean-Gilles also added that the center is a close contest between Nick Jones and Russ Tanner. Richt said that Shockley will be used "as much as possible" so that opposing defenses would be forced to prepare for him.

Odell Thurman said that Reggie Brown was working as hard or harder "than anyone in the NCAA" during summer workouts. Richt also added that the place kicking contest between Andy Bailey and Brandon Coutu will continue into the fall and that an incoming freshman will also battle for the spot.
