Hot 100 DT Back from Georgia with Leader

Kade Weston, TheInsiders.com's number seven ranked defensive lineman and Hot 100 Member, decided in the last minute to attend camp at Georgia. He has come back from Athens with a new offer and a new leader.

Kade Weston is a 6'6, 315 pound defensive tackle that claims a 5.1 forty out of Red Bank High School in Red Bank, N.J. He ended the 2003 season with 114 tackles, 14 sacks and five forced fumbles. In the weight room, Weston puts up 325 pounds on the bench and squats 490 pounds.

Weston had set in his mind that he wasn't going attend any camps this summer, but that changed this weekend when he took a trip to check out Georgia.

"My mentor at school has a daughter that graduated from Georgia, and she talked a lot about Georgia and how good the school, campus and athletics were, so I decided to go check it out for myself. I honestly didn't decide I was going until the Tuesday before the camp. This will be the only camp I attend this summer," said Weston.

Weston, one of the top players on the East Coast, came into Athens with 22 offers, but Georgia was not one of them. Did that number change before Weston left Athens?

"Mark Richt called me into his office after the camp was complete and offered me a scholarship. I was a little surprised by that. Coach Richt and I ended up talking for around 45 minutes or so. He was a lot of fun to talk with. He is real down to earth and very straight forward."

This top defensive tackle has been to Maryland and Georgia now and he has no plans to see any other schools before his season starts. Both Maryland and Georgia have offered along with schools like Oklahoma, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Florida and many more.

Does Mr. Weston have a top five and leader?

"No top five yet, but Georgia is definitely the leader. They are the team to beat. They truly blew me away down there. Their campus, coaches, study hall, facilities and just everything was awesome. I got to meet a lot of their current players in the weight room and they made me feel just like one of them. It was amazing."

When does Weston see a decision coming?

"No time table has really been set. It won't be before I take at least a few official visits. Georgia will definitely be one of them, but I will have to talk with my Uncle who the others will be."

What will play into the decision made by Weston?

"The biggest thing is me feeling comfortable. I want to be comfortable with the coaches, players and the surroundings. Distance will not play into my decision. I am open to going away from home. I have no problem with that."

Academically, Weston has a 2.6 GPA and plans to take the SAT in September.

Weston's recruitment will be fun to watch, as this Nationally ranked defensive tackle begins taking visits this fall. Make sure you stay tuned to TheInsiders.com for the latest on this prep star out of New Jersey.
