Palmetto State Safety Likes Two

Antavious Coates is a good looking Safety prospect out of Greenwood, SC. He recently attended the University of Georgia's senior camp and the big man came away with a new offer and a pair of leaders.

"Georgia offered me at camp this weekend. There was a lot of competition and great players there. I got to talk with the players and coaches as well," Antavious Coates said.

Did Antavious have a good enough time to keep the Dawgs out front?

"Georgia and Clemson are really my top two. I also like Auburn, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech."

What stands out about the pace setter's?

"With Georgia I just love everything about it. I mean what can you say? They are a powerhouse and they have one goal every year and that's the national title. What I like about Clemson is that it's a team on the rise. They will be great in the future and I really like Coach West and Coach Lovett."

Who has offered the Palmetto native to this point?

"Georgia, Clemson, Auburn, Vanderbilt, South Carolina and South Carolina State have offered me."

What is he looking for most in a school?

"Academics and how I fit in. Also the overall atmosphere and how the coaches interact with the players."

Coates is versatile enough to play on either side of the ball but he has a preference.

"Georgia is recruiting me at free safety and Clemson is recruiting me at free safety and wide receiver. I think I'm a better safety because I love to hit people and I'm big. I even got to play linebacker in one of the playoff games and the contact was great."

Antavious will attend a couple more camps before calling it quits.

"I enjoyed both the Georgia and Clemson camps. They were real good. I'm going to North Carolina for their prospect day on July 21st and I'm also trying to go to Auburn as well."

Coates will make a commitment before the season begins.
