Stacy Jones of Columbus High in Columbus, Miss. plays defensive end and tight end for Columbus. Last season at defensive end, Jones tallied 98 tackles, 11 sacks, 2 interceptions, 6 caused fumbles and had 3 defensive touchdowns. This Mississippi prep star also plays special teams where he blocked 8 total kicks last year. Colleges have taken notice and Jones claims a load of offers.
"I have well over thirty offers now", said Jones.
"I have offers from all over. Schools like Georgia, Michigan, Tennessee,
Notre Dame, Alabama are some of them."
Jones is being recruited at multiple positions. "I am being recruited
as a defensive end, linebacker, and tight end by different schools. I don't really have a preference.
I just want to play."
What are the strengths and weakness of Jones' game?
"Strengths would be me just overpowering people, throwing them to the
side and quickness, I am fast off the ball, and I love special teams. I think I
really excel there. My weakness is…can't really think of one, but I know I
want to improve my reads. I want to get better at reading the blockers."
Does Jones have a Top Five?
"Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi State and Florida would be my top
five. Really, I have three favorites…they would be Georgia, Mississippi State
and Alabama. All my favorites have offered."
What does he like about his three favorites?
Georgia - Love Georgia, I have loved them since I was a kid. They are full of
MSU - New Coach and I would like to be a part of something like
that, that is building from the ground up
Alabama - Coaches and Tradition
When does Jones plan to make his commitment?
"Sometime towards the end of the season or there after."
Will distance play into that decision?
"Not really, the only thing I would like is to stay in the South. I know
I will do that, so distance will not be a factor at all."
Jones is a good student that projects as a full qualifier.
