Georgia's starting punter suspended one game

Due to breaking team rules Georgia's starting punter will serve a one game suspension and will sit out of the Bulldogs' season opener against Georgia Southern.

Gordon Ely-Kelso, an Athens native, was suspended for violating team rules. He did not give specifics regarding the incident, but said that it occurred "earlier this summer".

"Lee Jackson, Andy Bailey, and Brandon Coutu will all be competing to start the Georgia Southern game," said Ely-Kelso. Bailey and Coutu are also currently battling for the starting place kicker position.

The redshirt sophomore is his third season at Georgia. He started all 14 games for Georgia last season as punter.

Ely-Kelso is one of two players that will miss the Georgia Southern game due to a suspension. Starting fullback Jeremy Thomas was suspended in the spring, also for violating team rules.
