Update 2002: Max Jean-Giles

He recorded 100 pancake blocks in 12 games last season. Willie Martinez is recruting him for Georgia.

Max indicated to me that he was "real tight" with Georgia Secondary Coach Willie Martinez. I then asked him how many other coaches he was "real tight" with on other teams and he responded, "I am tight with three coaches total."

Last season as a junior, this highly sought after recruit recorded 100 pancake blocks in 12 games. That averages out to be 8.3 per contest. He lives north of Miami and the Hurricanes, among others, are recruiting him hard.

"Arkansas, Miami, Nebraska, Georgia, they are all recruiting me, and they are all offering me as well."

When I asked about Coach Martinez specifically, he said that Martinez, "calls to talk with me out of his own time. We have built a relationship. We are real tight. He tells you the truth."

Georgia is in an absolute dogfight to get Jean-Gilles. Georgia will not only have to fight off SEC rival Arkansas, but also national powers Miami and Nebraska. Jean-Giles is scheduled to visit Athens this weekend and he confirmed that he would be there. I plan on a follow up to his trip to Athens on Monday night, it will be published Tuesday morning.
