Southern Football Predictions

Dean Legge makes his weekly picks for the 23 schools in the South.

1. Georgia – The Bulldogs are the best team in the South, right now because of how bad LSU looked last week. This weekend's game at South Carolina is very scary.

2. LSU – Tigers looked bad – they should have lost their opener.

3. Miami – The last early season match up with Noles went well.

4. Florida State – Can Chris Rix step up for once? Probably not.

5. Florida – Gators ready to play after sitting out a week.

6. Auburn – Tigers should win easy against Mississippi State.

7. Tennessee – Two quarterback system won't work for long.

8. Virginia – ACC game with North Carolina is a laugher.

9. Clemson – Tigers should have lost last week; now they turn their attention to Georgia Tech.

10. Maryland – Not an impressive performance against Northern Illinois.

11. Virginia Tech – After week off, Tech gets ready for Western Michigan. This game should be easy.

12. Alabama – Tide should handle a weak Ole Miss.

13. South Carolina – Gamecocks hope they can pull the upset – it has happened before against highly touted Georgia teams.

14. Arkansas – If the Hogs beat Texas Houston Nutt's pay should be increased.

15. North Carolina State – Everything clicked against Richmond. Ohio State visits next weekend.

16. Wake ForestEast Carolina has lost nine of their last ten – it's an easy week for Wake.

17. Georgia Tech – Game at Clemson is winnable, but Tech won't win it.

18. Mississippi State – Fell good story will be gone after the first week of the season. Auburn's running attack will make State's fans feel bad.

19. Ole Miss – Life after Eli is not so good.

20. Vanderbilt – Vandy might not ever compete in the SEC.

21. Kentucky – Same goes for the Wildcats.

22. North Carolina – UNC won't beat Virginia.

23. Duke – Losing to Navy?
