5 Star Florida LB Set on 4 Teams

Florida prospect Spencer Adkins is one of the best players in the country. Four of the elite schools in the southeast are doing battle for his signature. Who stands the best chance to land him?

"I like Miami, Florida, Florida State and Georgia. That's in no order," Spencer Adkins said.

What stands out about those schools on his list?

"I like pretty much the same thing about all three of the Florida schools. I like their aggressiveness. I think they can make me the best player I can be. I just like their programs overall. With Georgia, I just kind of bonded with their coaches, and they have had some success the past couple of years. I think I could help them."

What are the deciding factors in his recruitment?

"I'm just looking for a comfort feeling. I don't want to feel like an alien. I need to feel comfortable at my home. I want to go somewhere that there's some competition so it will make me better, and of course I'm looking at education also."

The Naples product will likely keep fans of all four institutions sweating out his decision until the final minutes.

"I'm going to wait until signing day before committing. It's one of the most important decisions in your life and you need to make the right choice."

Does Spencer feel any pressure to stay close to home?

"Not really. It's just what I want to do. I'm the type of person that needs to be close to my family."

How has the 5-star LB's senior year progressed to this point?

"My season is going well. Were living up to the expectations and were 7-0. I have 12 tackles for loss and 8 sacks so far this season. We play Gulf Coast this Friday."

Which schools have visited Adkins for one of his games this season?

"Florida and Miami have been down so far. Some of the other ones are talking about coming also. I know that I'm going to the Miami and Clemson game myself, for sure."

This story should be an interesting one to watch as we look forward to National Signing Day 2005.
