"Florida has been put on the back burner until I find out who their new coach is," said Vladimir Richard. "I went to Tennessee this weekend on an official visit and had a good trip. I got to hang out with Brent Schaeffer and Jason Allen."
"We just went to the movies on Friday night with the players. Coach
Chavis had breakfast with me and the Brent. Then we toured the campus and met
with the academic advisors. From there we headed to Neyland Stadium."
"We went down on the field while the team warmed up. Coach Fulmer came
by to say hey, and that he was glad to see me there. It was just a short talk.
Man that place was jumping."
The busy weekend was only half done after the football game on Saturday.
"Saturday Night, we went to Jason Allen's house and then out to a party.
We went back to Jason's house before I went back to the hotel. We had breakfast
Sunday morning, and all of the recruits went to Coach Fulmer's office to talk
about the program and the University as a whole. He said it took a special kind
of athlete to attend Tennessee."
Having been to two of the loudest venues in the country, how would he compare
Neyland and The Swamp?
"Both Tennessee and Florida are loud, but the Swamp is tougher to play
in. But Man... Neyland Stadium was loud."
What were his overall impressions of his trip to Knoxville?
"Tennessee impressed me. It was a lot bigger than I was expecting, and
those fans love their football up there."
He and Gerald Williams have talked all year about going to the same school.
Is that still the case?
"We'd like to attend the same school, but we're going to do what's best
for each other."
With one commitment already that didn't work out quite the way he expected,
Richard seems to be taking his time now.
"My Top 5 right now in no order is Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia,
and Georgia Tech."
Stay tuned. This one doesn't look like it's going to end any time soon.
