South Hot 100 DT Checks out Georgia

Jeffrey Owens is a member of the South Hot 100. Florida State and Miami have been his leaders, but did a visit to Athens change his mind?

"We arrived in Atlanta about 3:30 on Friday afternoon," said Jeffrey Owens. "We went to the Butts-Mehre building. My host was Mudcat (Marquis Elmore). He showed me around. At about 7:30 that night, we went to Sanford Stadium to have dinner in the sky box. We went back to some of the players' dorms and just hung out for the rest of the evening."

"On Saturday we ate breakfast with the academic advisors, and we toured with the academic facilities and the campus. After that we went back to the Butts-Mehre building, and they weighed us and measured us. Then Coach Richt came in and met with all of us for about 20 minutes, and we watched the highlight tape of Georgia this season. Then we watched an academic presentation on the University."

"We went from there to the stadium. We went on the sidelines for pre-game warm ups, and then the recruits went back into the locker room with the team and listened to Coach Richt and his final speech. Then we got escorted to our seats. I really enjoyed the crowd. The fans showed a lot of support. I definitely liked the barking on the kickoffs. I've never seen anything like that before."

"After the game I met up with my new host Kedric Golston, and we ate dinner at the Athens Country Club. After that I had a one on one meeting with Coach Richt. He didn't talk much about football. He talked about growing into a man and getting a degree from a major University and life in general. We didn't talk much about football. Me and Kedric went to a party where we hung out with some of the players and some of the recruits."

"On Sunday Morning we got up and packed and was escorted back to the airport."

Florida State and Miami have long been considered the favorites for Owens, what did his visit to Georgia do for his leaderboard.

"I loved the visit. Georgia has jumped up even with Florida State and Miami. I still have official visits left with Oklahoma (12-17), Miami (1-21), and Florida State on (1-28)."

With in home visits starting up again, Owens is expecting to hear from Florida State and Georgia this week, and those certainly won't be the last two schools after the big defensive tackle.
