Georgia Gets Surprise Visitor

Lamont Robinson is a big time linebacker out of Salem, New Jersey. Robinson committed to Virginia early on in the process and has now decided to take a few visits. His first was to The University of Georgia. Did this visit open his eyes a little?

"It was a great visit," said Lamont Robinson. "I had a dream when I was little to play for a big time program and Georgia had everything I dreamed of. I had very high expectations going to into my visit at Georgia and they surpassed everyone of them."

What did Georgia have that impressed Mr. Robinson?

"They have everything. It is hard to say a few things. Every aspect of the visit fell into place. "The campus was gorgeous. It was a good size campus that was just beautiful. All of the Georgia facilities are first class. Academics really impressed me. I am going to major in communications and they are number four in the country in that major. The staff is unbelievable from top to bottom. I had some amazing conversations with Coach Richt, Coach Johnson and Coach VanGorder. The visit was simply amazing. I fit in real well there as a football player and as a student. I felt so much love during my time there."

Who was the host for Robinson?

"Kenneth Harris was my host and he was great. He really showed me the life as a football player and as a student. I also hung out with Antonio Sims, Josh Johnson, Odell Thurman and a lot of other players."

How does Lamont Robinson rate his visit to Athens?

"It is definitely a ten. No doubt about that. Georgia has set the bar extremely high for the other schools. Georgia has it all and it offers a great total package."

Did this visit pull him away from his commitment to Virginia?

"I am still somewhat committed to Virginia, but we have an agreement. Once I told them I would visit other schools, they told me they would recruit someone to replace me also. I somewhat have opened the door. I feel good about it because both parties know where each other stand."

Robinson plans to visit Ohio State next weekend (12/3) and Oklahoma the following weekend (12/10). The Virginia visit has not yet been set up, but it will happen in late December or January. He may or may not take his fifth visit.

This week Robinson will play host to Ohio State, Iowa, Virginia, West Virginia and Georgia as each of those schools make in home visits with the New Jersey Linebacker.
