About Georgia: Freshman point guard Sundiata Gaines is leading the Bulldogs in scoring with 17 points per game, but that has been tempered by his 11-to-3 turnover-to-assist ratio. … Freshman center Dave Bliss has been the biggest positive surprise. He leads the team in rebounding with 8.5 per game.

Scouting report: This is the Bulldogs' best chance yet to get a victory and avoid going into Friday's game against Georgia Tech winless. "Winning games is important," Coach Dennis Felton said. "I don't know what more to say about it that that." Alabama A&M is a Division II team, but it will be no pushover for the Bulldogs. A&M is "athletic at every position," Felton said, and Georgia is not. A&M will throw a lot of different defenses at guard, including some full-court pressure, which could be a problem for the Bulldogs' young guards. A&M leading scorer Joe Martin is a big guard who will use his size to go inside. Guard Obie Trotter is a smaller guy who will shoot off screens and off the dribble.
