HOUNDS UPSET #2 GATORS

The Georgia Bulldogs topped last week's upset of Kentucky in Lexington by going on the road and defeating the #2-ranked Florida Gators 84-79 to improve to 15-3 on the season.

Jarvis Hayes led all scorers with 23 points while Ezra Williams chipped in 19 points to continue Georgia's improbable run to the top of the SEC Eastern division. The Bulldogs are now tied with Florida with a 4-1 conference record.

Freshman forward and football star Fred Gibson recorded his best game on the hardcourt with 13 points on 4-7 shooting (4-6 on Free Throws).

Coach Jim Harrick spoke about the huge win, "I think sometimes teams get through the year. I'm not sure we caught Florida at their best game, but I really can't worry about that. Teams catch us sometimes on nights that you are not the best. I was really proud of our players today. It has been an unbelievably emotional week for our team and to come back and get this kind of effort was tremendous. I thought we got down 14 and got into their tempo and we want to play our tempo. I think tempo is a huge thing in this kind of game. I thought Rashad Wright and Chris Daniels did a great job controlling the tempo of the game."

Udonis Haslem led Florida in scoring with 18 points. Brett Nelson added 17 but struggled on 5-19 shooting.

Georgia shrugged off Wednesday's loss to Alabama to win in Gainesville for the second straight year.
