Drops 1, is Down to 2

Tavares Kearney is a quick, hard hitting linebacker out of Atlanta, GA. He has visited South Carolina, Ohio State, and plans to trip to Georgia this weekend. Those were his top three two days ago, but he has dropped one, and narrowed his list to two. Who are the two still in the running?

"I dropped South Carolina yesterday, and am now down to Ohio State and Georgia," said Tavares Kearney.

Why were the Gamecocks dropped from Kearney's list?

"Spurrier came by yesterday and wanted me to commit them. It was something I was ready to do."

Spurrier (South Carolina), Ralph Friedgen (Maryland), Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma State and Ohio State have already been by Tucker High School to see Kearney this week. Kearney is set to have his first in home visit tonight with Ohio State.

"They were at the school today and will be by my house tonight (Wednesday). It will be my first in home visit."

Kearney will be heading over to Athens later this week and when Garner came by yesterday, he left Tucker H.S. with something Kearney liked the sound of….

"Coach Garner told me when he left yesterday, that I was not going to leave Athens without an offer in hand from Georgia. He has told me Coach (Ballard) that I have an offer, but they want to give it to me on my visit."

The last weekend before signing day remains open for Mr. Kearney, but taking a visit that weekend is not totally out of the question…

"Right now, I don't plan on taking a visit, but if I do it will be to Florida, Illinois or Oklahoma State." It looks like on February 2, 2005, Kearney will sign with The Buckeyes or the Bulldogs.
