ATHENS-------- A $50,000 raise and one-year extension to his existing contract have been approved for University of Georgia head coach Mark Richt, according to an announcement by UGA Athletic Director Vince Dooley.
The contract amendment was approved by the UGA Athletic Board Executive Committee.
"Coach Richt is certainly deserving of the raise and contract extension," said Dooley. "First of all, he's made a great impression on the University faculty, staff, students, and the Georgia people in general. And we won eight games and defeated Tennessee and Georgia Tech on the road."
Richt's total compensation package will increase from $750,000 to $800,000 for the coming year. The one-year extension brings the length of his contract back to its original five-years.
The Executive Committee also approved a ticket price increase from $27.00 to $32.00 for the coming season and a student ticket price increase from $5.00 to $6.00 per game.
"We have never been a leader in raising ticket prices," said Dooley. "There are already eight schools in the SEC, and Georgia Tech, that have been charging $30.00 or more for their tickets, and many of them are currently considering increases as well."
