Top Junior Defender Names 4 Early Leaders

Jasper Brooks is a name that recruiting fans will continuously hear about for the next twelve months. Brooks is a linebacker/defensive end prospect out of Towers High School in Atlanta, GA. Brooks is hearing from most major schools in the south. He talks about both the schools looking at him and the schools he is looking at in return early on. Also, see him in action in this presentation by ScoutTV.

Jasper Brooks measured in at 6'3, 210 pounds and turned in a 4.78 forty time at the Kennedy/CES Combine earlier this year.

Last season for Towers, Brooks played linebacker, defensive end, nose guard and offensive line.

Where position does Brooks want to play in college?

"I would like to play defensive end," said Brooks. "I think I am best at that position right now. I think my biggest strength is rushing the passer."

Brooks has the size and speed to play linebacker or defensive end, but with pass rushing being a strength of Brooks, don't be surprised to see this kid put his hand down and come off the edge as a full time defensive end down the road.

Playing all those different position last year, Brooks put up these numbers…

"I had ninety nine tackles, eleven tackles for loss and seven quarterback sacks. I also had a lot of quarterback hurries."

Brooks is someone that will definitely pass the eye test. With his physical appearance and his performance on the field, he has caught the attention of many Universities around the country.

"I am getting letters from a lot of different schools right now. I guess some of the schools that send me the most are, Ole Miss, Georgia, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, Florida and most of the Southern Schools."

So what teams stick out in Brooks' mind early on?

"My early favorites are Oklahoma, Georgia, Ole Miss and Miami."

Coach Fleetwood (Head Coach of Towers High School) says, "Jasper is the best player I have ever coached."

Fleetwood has coached some good ones including former Georgia Bulldog tight end, Larry Brown.

Jasper Brooks is a name that most fans are reading about for the first time right now, but he will be one that you will continue to see grow throughout the next twelve months.

Scott Kennedy Scouting Report: Jasper Brooks was in several different positions as stated above, but it was at outside linebacker when he really shined. When he had to read and react at middle linebacker, he struggled, but when he was turned loose from the outside, he was a force. At 6-3 and 210 pounds currently, Brooks has the size and speed to play outside linebacker, but his future looks to be as a pass rushing defensive end. He is strong at the point of contact when he is on the attack, and he is relentless in his pursuit once he spots his target.

See him in action in this presentation by ScoutTV. The first game, he is playing a lot of outside linebacker, and it is no coincidence that he had more tackles in the first game on this clip than he had on the next two games combined.
