Standout Georgia RB Looking Coast to Coast

Cameron Smith is a 6-0 and 180 pound running back/athlete that claims to run a 4.4 forty. Smith plays for Meadowcreek High School in Norcross, Ga. Smith is already getting attention from schools across the country. What schools are giving him the most attention and does he have an early favorite among them?

"I am getting a lot of letters everyday," said Cameron Smith. "Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Alabama, Oklahoma State and a lot more are sending me mail. I get mail from Georgia and Virginia everyday."

Who has made the early list of favorites?

"I would have to say Georgia is my favorite. I like them big time. After that, It would be USC, Virginia, UCLA and Arkansas."

Both coasts are represented in the list of favorites. Is their a reason for that?

"Well, I live in Atlanta with my mom, but we're from California. That is where my Dad lives, so I like the California schools too."

Speaking of California, Smith is drawing comparisons to a USC Heisman Finalist.

"I get compared to Reggie Bush by a lot of people. The way I play and my looks. The coaches here try to use me that way too. They line me up in the backfield, wide receiver, kick returner, punt returner and then I also play some defense."

What position does Smith feel he plays the best?

"I think it is running back. That is where I can make the most plays and that is where my heart is. I like catching passes too, but I touch the ball much more at running back. I will do whatever helps the team though."

Cameron Smith had over 1,400 total yards as a sophomore and 1,700 yards and twelve touchdowns as a Junior. Those numbers are even more impressive considering his team went 0-10 last year.

Cameron Smith may not be a name everyone knows about right now, but it will be soon. Cameron Smith is definitely a Peach State prospect you want to keep a close eye on in 2006.

Scott Kennedy Scouting Report: Cameron Smith has a slashing running style in which he always seems to squeeze through a hole for extra yardage. He is an elusive back that would rather run around a defender than through them, and he has excellent hands out of the backfield.
