The "Big Hurt" Names Favorites

Maurice Hurt (6-2, 325) is a big offensive lineman from Central Georgia garnering a good bit of early attention from quite a few schools. Who's at the top of his list early on?

"I like Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi State, Maryland and Florida State. I have an offer from Maryland right now," Maurice Hurt said.

What does he like about each of those programs?

Georgia: "It's home. Everyone can come see me play."

Florida: "I like the atmosphere down there and the tradition."

Alabama: "My homeboy Nick Kyles just signed over there and they're coming off probation."

Mississippi State: "Jarvis Kyles signed there and they got the first black SEC coach."

Maryland: "I got some tapes from them about the offensive line and it would be a change to get away from home."

Florida State: "What can you say man, it's just the Seminoles. Everyone talks about going down there."

What is he looking for most in a school?

"I'm looking for a good tradition, good academics and the graduation rate. Stuff like that."

Any camp plans for Hurt?

"I'll probably go to a couple of senior days here and there. I don't really know which ones yet."

Will he make an early decision or hold out?

"I'm going to take all 5 of my visits. I don't think I'm going to commit early."

Scott Kennedy Scouting Report:
Maurice Hurt is an aggressive blocker that plays right tackle for his Baldwin team. He maintains his blocks well and gets a good push. He has a good back pedal in pass protection from his tackle spot. Hurt saw some time at defensive tackle as a junior as well. He projects as an offensive guard on the college level. He is best in close quarters. He will need to get his pads lower than he's used to playing from his tackle spot, but that won't be a hard transition for him.
