Georgia WR has 1st Offer

The trend in college football has been towards bigger, more physical wide receivers, and the crop of receivers in the Class of 2006 is only going to further strengthen that trend. Demaryius Thomas of West Laurens High School is 6-4 and 215 pounds. He is agile enough that he also played corner as a junior. He has his first scholarship offer, and you can see him in action in this presentation by ScoutTV.

Demaryius Thomas stands at 6-4 and 215 pounds. He actually played corner for his West Laurens team as well as wide receiver. He has the size that he could end up playing tight end on the college level as well. He has soft hands and makes the tough catches in traffic. He has picked up one offer already.

"Georgia Tech offered me about two weeks ago," said Thomas. "It was good to get that first offer. They're recruiting me as a wide receiver."

Thomas has already begun to think about his spring and summer schedule.

"I'm going to Tech for junior day on March 5th, and I think I'm going to Georgia; I think theirs is on April 2nd I'm going to camp at Georgia Tech. I don't have any favorites right now, but if I had to name five schools to visit they would probably be Georgia, Georgia Tech, Duke, Florida State and probably North Carolina."

A good all around athlete, Thomas averaged 20 points and over seven rebounds on his basketball team, and he'll compete in the 200 and 4x100 for his track team this spring.

"He had 31 catches for 311 yards," said West Laurens Head Coach John Kenny. "He's a good enough athlete that we actually play him at corner. He won't play there in college, but he does a good job for us there."
