A Commitment Coming Soon?

Ben Harden is a 6'3 290lb OL prospect out of Perry High School in Central, GA. On Tuesday morning, he received his first scholarship offer from the Georgia Bulldogs. What was his reaction upon hearing the news?

"I think it's real good. I was shocked when I first heard but sitting down and looking at it, I think it's real good," Ben Harden said.

Harden was in Athens last weekend.

"I went up to junior day and we got to sit in on an offensive line meeting with Coach Callway. We watched the scrimmage and Coach Richt pulled me aside to talk with me and my father. He told me he wanted me at Georgia. Coach Johnson talked to me this morning (Tuesday) and that's when they made the official offer. I'm supposed to get the paper in the mail sometime tomorrow or next week."

What did Dad think of the visit?

"My dad thought real highly of it. He told me that he was impressed because the head coach pulled me aside during the practice and that he was really liking the academic program for the football players."

What does his favorites list look like now?

"I got Georgia number 1 and Florida number 2. Then it's Tennessee, Miami and Texas."

What stands out about the Dawgs and Gators?

Georgia: "They show a lot of attention towards me and show me they want me there. They have strong academics and I could see myself up there for 4 or 5 years."

Florida: "I like their style of offense. They like that spread run and gun attack and that's fun to play in as an offensive tackle. I went down there two weeks ago and I liked it a lot."

"First and foremost is a strong academic base. After that it's football. I want to major business."

With the Bulldogs out front with an offer on the table, might an early commitment be in the works?

"I could commit by the end of this week. I'm just going to talk it over with my dad."
