Georgia Women Begin Outdoor Play vs Clemson; Tech

Georgia faces Clemson and Georgia Tech

Top-ranked Georgia will begin outdoor play this week with Clemson (3-3) at home on Friday at 1:30 pm and then No. 37 ranked Georgia Tech (5-1) on Saturday in Atlanta.

Clemson holds a 16-14 edge in the series history but Georgia has won the last five meetings including 6-1 last year. Georgia has dominated the series with Ga. Tech as it owns an undefeated mark of 12-0 against the Yellow Jackets. Georgia posted a 6-1 win last season over Ga. Tech. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 4-2 upset of No. 22 South Carolina in Columbia.

In team matches, Georgia is undefeated in the singles lineup at the number one, three and five spots. Agata Cioroch leads the way at number one with a 5-0 mark while Anne Nguyen is 6-0 at number three and a trio of Lady Bulldogs have combined for a perfect 7-0 mark at number five.

Last time out

The Lady Bulldogs took the USTA/ITA National Indoors by storm, defeating fourth-ranked Vanderbilt 4-1 in the final to capture the title. It marked the third indoor team title for Georgia in school history. In the 2002 event, Georgia defeated No. 21 Baylor, No. 6 Tennessee, and then No. 1 Stanford en route to the title.

Georgia is currently ranked No. 1 moving up four places after winning the indoor event. Rankings are released weekly by the ITA.
