Tallahassee Star Visits Athens

Tallahassee Florida is a town that's looked to year after year for some of the best football players in the country and this year happens to be no exception. Godby product Marcus Udell is getting some of the most attention from college recruiters in the state capital this season and on Saturday he took a trip to check out one of his favorite programs, the Georgia Bulldogs. What were Udell's impressions of the visit?

"It was real good. I liked everything there. I got to meet the coaches and I sat down with Coach Richt and got to speak with him. It was just really nice," Marcus Udell said.

What were some of the highlights of Athens to Marcus?

"I really loved the stadium and the academic center. They were telling me about the tutoring and all the help they can give you and I liked that. The stadium is bigger than Doak Walker and I didn't know that either."

His offer list continues to grow.

"South Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, Florida, Iowa, Iowa State, Kentucky, USF, North Carolina and Ole Miss, Illinois and I think 2 or 3 others have all offered. I have 13 or 14 total."

Is he ready to name a favorite at this juncture?

"I haven't made a favorites list yet. I'll probably make a list at the end of the summer. I know I really liked Georgia. I have to go visit some other schools and compare them. I don't want to make a decision before seeing all of my options."

The North Florida product feels he has a lot to prove in 2005.

"Last year I had 54 tackles and 4 interceptions but I missed 3 games. This year I just plan to come out with a bang and show everyone."

Marcus is looking at possibly attending 6 camps this summer.

"I was planning to go to Miami's camp but I have the ACT next weekend. I will be at Georgia, Florida, Auburn and Florida State also. I'll try to make LSU and Alabama too."

It appears as if Georgia made quite an impression this weekend, but this race is far from over as the big three in state programs as well as a few of the Dawgs SEC rivals will each get a shot to sway his attention in the near future.
