Atlanta Star Visits Athens

Kiante Tripp is one of the best big athletes in the entire country and this past Saturday he chose to stay close to home and make an unofficial visit to Athens to check out the Georgia Bulldogs. How much did he enjoy the visit?

"It was straight down there. They're building a lot of new stuff and they got the new dorms and all. We took a look in the rooms and all and it was nice," Kiante Tripp said.

What all did the Westlake product get to see while in the Classic City?

"We got to see the academic center that they had just built not too long ago. We took a visit around the campus and saw everything. I got to talk to Coach Richt. He just told me he wanted me at buck end and as long as I get to play that's cool with me. He was trying to get me to commit really. I told him they were in my top 2 and I just told him I couldn't do it yet. I had to go down to Florida first."

When might Tripp make that visit to Gainesville?

"I don't know just yet. My mom is talking to Florida about when they want me to come visit."

As Kiante alluded to above, the Dawgs and Gators sit atop his list.

"I like Georgia and Florida at the top. Then Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Oklahoma."

What has separated the two SEC eastern division rivals from the pack?

UGA: "The academics down there are real good. Most of the players they have always graduate and I really like the people."

UF: "The coaches are real cool. I haven't gotten a chance to take a visit yet but I've got a friend who goes down there in Michael Brown. That's what got them in the top 2."

Might the Atlanta native skip across the state line to join the new era of Gator football or will Mark Richt's staff be able to convince him to stay home and wear the red and black? Stay tuned to to find out…
