Dawgs Impress Florida Star

Mainland High School's Tony Wilson is one of the best available athletes in the state of Florida for the class of 2006 and he was recently named to the initial Scout.com South Hot 100 team. Wilson camped in Athens, GA this past weekend and came home with an even bigger leader for his services.

"I went up to Athens last weekend and I met with Kelin Johnson and stayed with him for 2 days. It was good all around but the best thing was that all the coaches were showing me love. It wasn't just Kirby or Coach Richt. It was Coach Garner, Coach Martinez and Coach Fab. It was all of them," Tony Wilson said.

Tony is versatile enough to play on either side of the ball at the next level and it appears the UGA staff feels the same way.

"They're recruiting me at receiver but if I go up there I think they're going to play me both ways. I'll also probably return kicks and other stuff."

Wilson went to Athens expecting to just take an unofficial and get reacquainted with his high school buddy Kelin Johnson, but he wound up camping in the Classic City as well. One of the other participants in-particular caught his eye.

"Coach Richt's son was throwing the ball to me a little bit. He's only going to the 9th grade but man he can sling it. You're going to hear about him in a few years."

The 3 day trip to Georgia was enough to cement the Dawgs at the top of his list for the time being.

"I'm leaning to Georgia right now. I'm also looking at Florida. They're both recruiting me very hard."

What stands out most about his favorite school?

"I like everything. It's the coaches and the atmosphere. The players just show me so much love. I feel like I'm home in Athens, I really do."
