Georgia Adds Defense

As quickly as he burst onto the recruiting scene, Ricardo Crawford took his name off the board. This morning, the Cerro Gordo (N.C.) West Columbus defensive tackle made a call that ended his recruitment.

"I committed to Georgia this morning," said Crawford. "There's a lot of reasons why I chose Georgia. I like the program and it's close to home. I like the academics and I like the school itself."

West Columbus head coach Vernon Brigman believes that it was more than just football for Crawford.

"Really, he just loved the facilities and his relationship with the coaches," said Brigman. "They had everything he wanted, the lockerroom, training staff, academic support, and the dorm rooms."

While Georgia offers quite a bit on campus for Crawford, the big defensive tackle is looking at the future.

"He also wanted a chance to win a national championship and chance to be drafted in the NFL in four years."

Georgia has loaded up heavy on the offensive side of the ball this year, but now they have added another big man on defense. Crawford was in the middle of a workout this morning, and we will follow up with him shortly.

Virginia Tech, East Carolina, and Wake Forest were the other schools to offer the defensive tackle.
