5-Star LB Loves the Dawgs

Akeem Hebron is a player on a lot of team's wish list this recruiting year. The Maryland LB has garnered a lot of accolades over his high school career and the latest comes in the form of a 5-star ranking by Scout.com. Where is this big northeast prospect leaning at the current time?

"I like Georgia, Florida, Virginia Tech, LSU and USC. Georgia is still my favorite. They have a pretty big lead," Akeem Hebron said.

What does he like most about the Dawgs?

"I just like the school. They interest me the most and I have a chance to play early. Coach Johnson recruits me for them. We talk a lot and we have a pretty good relationship," Akeem Hebron said.

Is there one factor that separates UGA from the competition?

"I have family in Georgia and that means a lot to me. I guess that's really what separates them."

What's most appealing about the depth chart in Athens?

"Their linebackers look pretty young. They have a lot of freshmen and sophomores but I just plan to go in and work hard."

Akeem will make his first visit to the Classic City a week from Today.

"I'm going down to Georgia on the 8th for a visit. I want to look at the atmosphere and how the coaches relationship is with the players."

What is he looking for overall in the school of his choice?

"Location, academics and most of all it's the football. I'm looking for a big time school and a chance to play early. I also want a good coaching staff."

Hebron's favorites list is almost like a who's who among college football programs. What stands out about each of those teams?

Florida: "I have a good relationship with Coach Gonzalez. I probably talk to him just as much as Coach Johnson."

Virginia Tech: "It's in the ACC and it's close to home. My family up there would get to see me play more than if I was down in the SEC."

LSU: "It's a program I'm interested in."

USC: "Same as LSU really."

With Akeem on campus this weekend in Athens combined with the Dawgs large lead for his signature, he acknowledges that there is a chance he could possibly make a commitment but he offers this word of caution.

"Even if I do commit while I'm down there, I'll still take some visits just to make sure."
